BROKEN EARTH
Team Broken Earth is a volunteer-driven registered medical charity with doctors, nurses, and specialized healthcare professionals from around the world who join together for week-long medical missions to offer critical health services to the people who need them the most.
Members of the Foster Foundation have volunteered in medical missions and provided educational courses in Haiti and Guatemala. To date, Broken Earth volunteers have treated over 20,000 patients and are committed to keep that momentum going.
FEAR IS NOT LOVE
Sadly, many of the injuries that we treat are the result of violence.
FearIsNotLove offers free programs for any person experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Members of the Foster Foundation volunteer at FearIsNotLove, partner with this organization and others in our community to promote equitable access to orthopaedic care, and support the Turning Points annual fundraiser.
We believe that everyone deserves to live without fear impacting close relationships.
EDUCATE
Education on Domestic Violence:
Understanding Clinicians’ And Traumatologists Experiences Program
At the Foster Foundation, we are proud to be EDUCATE Champions. Our commitment has driven us to lead over five transformative courses for surgeons, residents, fellows, nurses, and cast technicians across Alberta.
In our clinics, we actively uphold the principles of addressing intimate partner violence (IPV) by routinely asking about it, advocating for those experiencing it, and offering comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care and resources for both victims and those exhibiting violent behaviors.
We’re now expanding our reach with mEDUCATE to include IPV education for medical students, empowering future healthcare professionals to tackle domestic violence.
